Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) Copper Testing the Last Mile

Fibre to the Cabinet is currently being installed with the cabinet to house connection remaining on copper. In this scenario the Digital Subsciber Line Access Multiplexor (DSLAM) is moved out of the Central Office and installed in the cabinet. The distance between the customers premises and DSLAM is now shorter and offers a better service.

The testing of this 'last mile' is now more difficult but is easliy overcome by installing cabinet testing. This allows remote testing of the copper line and DSLAM port prior to sending out an engineer.
